Through your generosity, Amigas de Punta Mita supports transformative programs for children and women in our region, creating opportunities for learning, self-expression, and empowerment.
Creative Arts Momentum (CAM)
Creative Arts Momentum (CAM), led by the exceptional Maestra Colleen, teaches over 950 children across the Bahia de Banderas area. Children who participate in CAM’s cultural dance program leave exhilarated, joyful, and ready to take on challenges with confidence.
One inspiring story is that of Meztli Mariscal, who joined CAM as a third grader in Sayulita in 2011. Her passion and dedication led her to become an assistant teacher and, ultimately, a scholarship student at Whitman College in Washington, USA, where she studies Environmental Science with a minor in Dance. Meztli’s journey is a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact of mentorship, education, and the arts.
LUDOTECA
Ludoteca is an educational drop-in center at the Fundacíon community hub, offering children a safe, nurturing space to learn, grow, and explore. Open daily and free for all children, the program includes a meal and is run by certified teachers.
Among the many success stories are Kimi and Alexia, sisters aged 14 and 11, who came to Ludoteca unable to read or write. With patient guidance and encouragement, both girls have learned literacy skills and are preparing to enroll in Secondaria this fall. Today, they mentor other youth, inspiring their peers to pursue education.
Other Programming & Future Opportunities
Over the years, Amigas has been able to support a number of organizations, including
Punta Mita Project: Founded by chefs Danie and Greg, this nonprofit prepares and serves healthy lunches twice a week to over 120 children in Corral del Risco’s kinder and primary schools.
La Casa Clu (San Ignacio): A safe, enriching space offering emotional support, youth programming, and women’s empowerment led by a multidisciplinary team.
Corral del Risco Community Projects: Including maintenance and upgrades to the public playground—an initiative the Amigas have proudly helped renew.
We’re honored to support these vital initiatives and will continue to explore the needs and opportunities in the region to ensure funds raised through Amigas de Punta Mita each year have the greatest impact on our youth and women.
